After the avant-garde reconstruction, the “Santiago Bernabeu” will also change its name starting from the next match. It is not a revolution dictated by the needs of sponsors, but a simplification desired by Real Madrid to reach even more fans and to become recognizable with great simplicity around the world.
The change has already happened and the first indicator was the new placement of letters on the outside of the stadium, which from today will be called simply "Bernabeu".
The club has decided to maintain the dedication of the facility to the former player and president from 1943 to 1978, but to keep only his surname for marketing reasons.
The reasons for the new name of Real Madrid's stadium
The new letters have been placed on the facade, despite the dissatisfaction of a large part of the fans who have shown themselves against this change.

Starting from the next match, Real Madrid's stadium will be called simply "Bernabeu", dropping the name "Santiago" of the former president to whom it was dedicated. It is not a move that has met with unanimous approval: many Blancos supporters have seen it as a real betrayal on the part of Florentino Perez, who, according to them, is gradually abandoning the club's traditions to follow only the laws of marketing, forgetting history.
The change is actually minimal, but behind it lie major motives related to sponsors, advertising, and above all, enthusiasts coming from abroad.
With this move, Real Madrid aims to be more accessible to everyone, shortening the name of its stadium to a single word, easy to remember and pronounce.
It is part of the company's plan to establish itself as a reference point in every aspect, not just football, especially since the facility will be the venue for highly anticipated international concerts in the coming years.
