SPAK conducted inspections today in several premises as part of the investigation into the "KAYO" case, while the phone of the administrator of the state-owned company, Ardi Veliu, was reportedly seized.
Searches were also conducted at premises linked to businessman Ron Yeffet and the company TIMAK, while investigators seized documents and materials that will be subject to verification.
Today's development brings to mind the interview that Ardi Veliu gave just a few weeks ago in "Opinion" at a time when accusations and claims were made in public by Arben Ahmetaj about a suspected arms trafficking scheme, which mentioned KAYO, TIMAK Defence and businessman Ron Yeffet.
Asked directly by Blendi Fevziu about KAYO's involvement in these allegations, Veliu categorically denied it.
"We are not involved in arms trafficking. Zero," he said. The KAYO administrator also stated that the companies and factories that KAYO had taken over had no production capacity at that time.
"So far, KAYO's involvement is zero, because the factories we have acquired and own have zero production activity," he declared.
During the interview, Veliu also spoke about the relationship with TIMAK Defence, the involvement of Ron Yeffet and the declared investment of 15 million euros for the revitalization of the former tractor factory. According to him, the contractual relationship was developed through TIMAK and the investment was in progress.
Today, just a few weeks after that public statement, Veliu's name is back at the center of investigative developments, this time due to SPAK's actions and the seizure of his phone.
