Everest Kazheli, appointed head of the State Cadastre Agency (ASHK) in Elbasan, has resigned just three hours after his appointment.

Gentian Mahmutaj, who previously held the position of head of the technical-legal sector at the General Directorate of the Albanian Anti-Corruption Agency, has been appointed in his place.

The change in the institution's leadership comes just hours after Kazhel's appointment.

Until his appointment as head of the Elbasan Cadastre, Kazheli headed the Fier Cadastre. The latter has been involved in property alienation scandals.

So far, the reasons for his resignation have not been made known.
