The Democratic Party and the Socialist Party have concluded a joint draft law regarding the financing of political parties, within the framework of the Electoral Reform.

The draft states that political parties can receive: from Albanian citizens a maximum of 200,000 lek per year; from tax-registered natural persons, a maximum of 500,000 lek per year and from any legal entity, a maximum of 1,000,000 lek per year.

Regarding the prohibitions, political parties cannot be financed by legal entities that are strategic investment entities or that carry out gambling and casino activities, and the field of cryptocurrencies; legal entities that have concession contracts, public-private partnership contracts or companies that have public contracts for the provision of goods and the performance of services with the institutions of the Republic of Albania for 3 years after the termination of the contractual relationship; citizens convicted of criminal offenses in the field of corruption, money laundering, organized crime, drug trafficking or electoral crimes, etc.
