The National Assembly of the Democratic Party met today at the 'Asllan Rusi' Sports Palace in Tirana, in which the changes to the Statute of this political force were also approved, after which the way is opened for the change of the leadership dome, including the Head of the Parliamentary Group. which, according to the statute, is chosen from among the vice-presidents of the party.

With the change of the statute, the chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, will also be the head of the parliamentary group when this party is in opposition. With these changes, Lulzim Basha will also be the chairman of the parliamentary group, a post held by Gazment Bardhi.

Another statutory change that was approved is the exclusion from membership of those who have run for other entities. The presidency also sets the date of the elections no later than 6 months after the vacancy.

Statutory changes approved in the National Assembly of DP:

"In the Statutory amendments that are proposed to you today, a clear definition of the Democratic Party has been made as a center-right party based on the values ​​of individual freedom, faith in God, respect for human rights and dignity.

The Democratic Party believes that political liberties and rights, economic liberties and rights, religious liberties and rights, liberties and rights to each have their own understanding of life and its purpose, are indivisible.

The Democratic Party defends the sanctity of the family; sees the family as the place, the shelter, the most natural and ideal bed where children can grow up and where they, and only they, are at the center of it. Family and children are the basic cell that makes up society.

The separation of powers, limited and controlled governance, fiscal responsibility, the fight against the phenomena of corruption, monopolies, and the purification of politics from criminal connections constitute the main obligation of the Democratic Party.

The proposed changes appreciate the extraordinary contribution of the Albanian Diaspora and define as an essential obligation of the Democratic Party the full guarantee of its political, economic and social rights.

In this Statute, the final separation is made with those who were a conscious part of the structure of political power, the structure of violence, the State Security and the propaganda of the communist criminal regime. Condemning the crimes of communism and the actions of all those who participated in keeping that regime alive, through cooperation in these crimes, is defined as a statutory obligation of the Democratic Party.

Ndryshimet qe i propozohen këtij Kuvendi janë një hap përpara për modernizimin e mënyrës së funksionimit të partisë dhe një qartësim te pozicionit dhe vizionit të saj politik. Për shumë kohë Partia Demokratike kishte humbur identitetin e saj politik e për pasojë strukturat ishin ngurtësuar dhe nuk kishin eficiencën elektorale të nevojshme për një parti që synon të jetë alternativë qeverisëse.

Është zgjeruar koncepti i demokracisë së brendshme dhe roli vendimmarrës i anëtareve në përzgjedhjen e kandidatëve të pushtetit qendror dhe atij lokal, duke ngushtuar kompetencën që kishte Kryetari i Partisë në këtë drejtim.

Për herë të parë janë shtuar kompetencat e Këshillit Drejtues të Qarkut i cili do të ketë një rolë të konsiderueshëm në konsultimin me anëtarët e partisë për përcaktimin e kandidatura për Deputet dhe për Kryetar Bashkie.

Këshillit Drejtues i Qarkut për herë të parë do të ketë dhe përgjegjësi për organizimin partiak vendor si dhe për zbatimin nga ana e degëve të urdhrave, udhëzimeve dhe rregulloreve të nxjerra nga organet qendrore të Partisë Demokratike duke jetësuar frymën e decentralizimit të përcaktuar në këtë Statut.

Është fuqizuar roli i anëtarit duke e vendosur atë në qendër të organizimit të partisë. Iniciativa personale e çdo anëtari do të jetë themeli i ku do të ngrihet struktura e Partisë Demokratike.

Është decentralizuar vendimmarrja dhe organizimi lokal duke i lënë hapësirë vetë organizimit të degëve duke e bërë strukturën më fleksibël dhe më të përshtateshe për nevojat e secilës prej tyre.

The role of monocratic bodies has been reduced and special importance has been given to collegial bodies, increasing the powers in party organization and political decision-making. In the Democratic Party, the power will be held by the members and the institutions and not by individual individuals.

The separation of powers within the party's institutions has become clear, guaranteeing their independence, where the Appeals Committee has taken an important role, which will be a guarantee for compliance with the provisions of this statute by all members and governing bodies.

The content of the current Statute has been harmonized and simplified, correcting inaccuracies or removing provisions that are repeated in its text, but without affecting the essence of the statutory provisions."
