American Ambassador Yuri Kim has said that she has met, " every member of the Supreme Prosecution Council (SPC) to underline the importance of electing a new head of SPAK" .

In a tweet, Ambassador Kim wrote that the process should not be influenced by those who have an interest in limiting or manipulating investigations.

Ambassador's post:

" Last week, we met with every member of the High Council of Prosecution (KLP) to underline the importance of electing the new head of SPAK, who without fear or favor will intensify the fight against corruption and organized crime.

The selection process should not be influenced by those who have an interest in limiting or manipulating investigations. This is the essence of justice reform: justice must be blind to power, prosecutors and judges must all be equal before the law, institutions must be independent.

Justice reform is not only a requirement for EU membership; it is the right request of the Albanian people. The USA will always stand with the people of Albania. We will continue to firmly support the implementation of justice reform. This will not change.

We will closely monitor the SPAK selection process to ensure that justice reform moves forward ," Kim tweeted.
