The Chief State Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi, in a press conference made public the final election results in the country's 5 municipalities, focusing particularly on the experiment with artificial intelligence during the counting process in Tepelena.

Celibashi stated that the use of AI was a technical test, not a replacement for the manual counting method stipulated by the Electoral Code. 

"In Tepelena we tested the use of AI in counting and evaluating votes. The results were successful and met our expectations. The reading and analysis of the ballots was carried out in real time, with almost 100% accuracy compared to physical counting," said Celibashi.

He added that the artificial intelligence system read the front of the ballots with complete accuracy, while some minor inaccuracies were found on the back.

According to the Chief Commissioner, further improvement in accuracy will require the development of special technical protocols for counters and commissioners, as well as amendments to the Electoral Code so that the results produced by technology have official legal value in the future.
