The Appeals and Sanctions Commission (KAS) has fined several political parties in Albania, after they exceeded the expenses for the election campaign of the parliamentary elections of April 25, 2021.

The fine for the political parties was proposed by the head of the CEC, Ilirian Celibashi. SP and DP and some other parties have been fined 500 thousand new lek, or 5 million old lek.

The parties that have been fined 500 thousand ALL:

- Socialist Party;
- Democratic Party;
- Movement for National Development;
- Legality Movement;
- People's Union of Albanian Pensioners;
- Knitting initiative;
- Democratic Persuasion;
- Social Democratic Party;
- National Front;
 Democratic National Front.

Meanwhile, the Socialist Party has been sanctioned with 5 million new ALL, in a second sanction.

"The imposition of an administrative sanction in the amount of 5,000,000 (five million) lek, according to article 173, point 9, of law 10019, dated 29.12.2008 "Electoral Code of the Republic of Albania", amended" for the electoral subject Socialist Party of Albania ", it is stated in the announcement of KAS.

"The commissioner requested the imposition of an administrative sanction against the electoral entity Socialist Party of Albania for exceeding the maximum limit of expenses. The KAS considers that the Commissioner's request should be accepted and the subject should be sanctioned in the amount of 5 (five) million ALL, because it is a value higher than the difference between the value spent and the maximum allowed value", it continues. further notice.
