The head of the DP Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted again regarding the closed-door meeting of the Mandates Council to lift Belinda Balluku's immunity, stating that it was done only to obstruct justice.
According to Bardhi, the Democratic Party's position in this meeting was clear and that the meeting should be open to the public, where each MP should account for his position.
He also emphasizes that the DP has requested that the deputies and the defendant should only have 3 days to acknowledge the evidence, which was only given today, a request that has also been supported by the Special Prosecution, which has confirmed that 3-5 days are necessary.
Bardhi accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of deciding to drag out the issue, closing the meeting without setting a new date, describing this as obstruction of justice.
He added that the Prosecution has confirmed that defendant Belinda Balluku is tampering with evidence and intimidating witnesses.
"The prosecution confirmed that the defendant Belinda Balluku is tampering with evidence, intimidating witnesses. It is an urgent matter for the approval of the authorization by the Assembly," Bardhi declares.
Gazment Bardhi's reaction:
The closed-door meeting of the Mandates Council on the "Balluku-Rama" case was held to hide the truth, to hide the obstruction of justice that Edi Rama is committing, and to produce fake news.
The DP's position at the meeting was clear:
The meeting should be open to the public, where each MP should account for his or her position.
Full support for SPAK's request and early approval of the authorization.
The deputies and the defendant should only have 3 days to acknowledge the evidence, which was only given to us today. The Special Prosecution Office also requested 3-5 days.
The next Council meeting will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025, where the Council will recommend granting the arrest warrant.
Edi Rama decided to drag out the matter, closing the meeting without setting a date for the next meeting. This constitutes OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE. The prosecution confirmed that the defendant Belinda Balluku is destroying evidence, intimidating witnesses. It is an urgent matter to approve the authorization by the Assembly.
Opposition members will request a meeting of the Mandates Council at the beginning of next week to review and approve the request for authorization of the Special Prosecution Office.
