The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, commemorated today the murder of 22 intellectuals by the communist dictatorship in Albania.
During a meeting with representatives of the former politically persecuted class, Berisha also held a minute of silence in memory of the murder of 22 intellectuals.
Berisha also promised during the meeting that the DP's program foresees the final repayment of the state's debt to former political prisoners.
During his speech, the leader of the Democrats said that this program will be the DP's contract with the politically persecuted.
Sali Berisha: This program will be the DP's contract with your class. It will be implemented 100% within 1 mandate. It will be implemented first, it is a major obligation of Albanian society towards you. Only on the material level, if you take entire cities, they were built with the labor, the sweat of the politically persecuted who melted their lives in them. Today they have disappeared and are no more.
Berisha states that this program is being discussed at a time when, according to him, Albania is experiencing a second dictatorship and calls Prime Minister Rama "a direct descendant of an executioner of the communist dictatorship."
Sali Berisha: We discuss this program at a time when Albanian society, Albania, is experiencing the second dictatorship. It is experiencing a dictatorship in which a direct descendant of a communist dictatorship executioner uses the most brutal means he can use at this time against political opponents and the opposition. We are today under a regime in which the narco-dictator, just like the dictator of the 1950s, has all the power in this country in his hands. He has all the decision-making in his hands, he considers the assets of this country as his own and his criminal clans' assets. The dictator today does not have a State Security, as the former dictator had. But he has the same instruments of terror as the former dictator had. The Bajrës do not exercise less terror when they deploy their motorcades in Shkodra than the State Security jeeps.
He accuses Prime Minister Rama of turning the elections into a farce, claiming that they were dealing with gangs, criminals, and electoral terrorists.
Sali Berisha: In the dictatorship, voting was held, as you know, but out of fear, the vote went to 90 or so percent for the dictator. The elections were a farce. Even today, he turned the elections into a farce. He won the elections with gangs, with criminals, he won them with patronageists, real electoral terrorists. They are paid with taxpayers' money to be servants of the citizens, and they become slaves of the regime.
He won the elections by using tens, hundreds of millions. So, this dictator of today also turned the elections into a farce. Back then, they would go out with a bang. On voting day, a holiday. It was terrible. Now, they come and say: the voting was peaceful. The vote here dies before it enters the ballot box. This is the truth. This is a form of dictatorship, this kind of dictatorship.
