Albania and Italy will hold a joint meeting between the two governments in Rome

The Albanian and Italian governments are expected to hold a joint meeting in Rome in the middle of next month, thus marking the highest level of cooperation between the two countries.

Albania and Italy signed the Strategic Partnership Declaration in 2010. A day earlier, the Albanian government approved in principle an agreement for strategic cooperation with the Italian government, in at least 10 areas ranging from health, energy and the environment to the security industry or smart growth.

This agreement will be the one expected to be signed between Prime Minister Edi Rama and his Italian counterpart Giorgia Meloni. This document will form the basis on which, on the same day, a large number of agreements involving cooperation in various sectors are expected to be signed.

Italy has held joint meetings with several governments of European Union countries, but this is the first it has held with a country outside the Union.
