The defense of former minister Lefter Koka lasted for about 5 hours. Lawyer Julian Mërtiri declared that his client is innocent of the 3 charges, abuse of office, passive corruption and cleaning of the proceeds of the crime.

The martyr stated that Koka simply implemented the decision of the council of ministers. It was the commission that was set up with representatives of many ministries and the local government that decided to grant the concession, while the Head simply signed the government's decision. According to the lawyer, there is no evidence that implicates his client in illegal benefits for favoritism in granting the concession. In the defense with more than 100 pages, Mërtiri requested the release of Koka due to his age, because he has health problems, he is the father of 3 children and has been detained for a long time.

His condition has worsened with detention and that the prison where he is located does not guarantee the conditions for his health condition. He also asked for the removal of the seizure, because there is no abuse of duty and therefore there is no cleaning of the proceeds of the criminal offense. He also stated that the Skënderbeu winery has a value many times higher than the amount of 2.6 million euros that SPAK says Koka has benefited from. Therefore, he asked for the release of the assets, which according to him were obtained before the time he became a minister.

The other lawyer of Lefter Koka has raised strong accusations, as he stated that his client had no relationship with Klodian Zoto. The only one who had a relationship was former Minister Arben Ahmetaj. He even added that Ahmetaj had an accident in Macedonia with Zoto, there are transactions in a villa, as well as some emails, where it is clear who is the person who communicated and cooperated with the administrator of the Elbasan Incinerator.

While Koka himself burst into strong accusations against the former party he belonged to. He said that for 2 years he has been politically attacked by his former party. He called the former President a fuks and a former security guard, who together with his biggest ally, Fallxhoren (Kryemadhi), orchestrated the process against him. Koka further emphasized that the former President spoke in the pub saying that Lefter Koka will be arrested. In the end, he did not even spare the attack on the poor prosecutor, saying that he was used intentionally or unintentionally by the accusers. As the court asked prosecutor Klodian Braho if he will respond to Koka's statement, the prosecutor stated that at the end of the defense of all the defendants, they will consider the possibility of rebuttal. This brought the nervousness of Koka, who answered with irony: "Why do you still have something to say", and left the courtroom.
