The U.S. Senate has not approved the appointment of David Kostelancik as the United States ambassador to Albania.

The Senate has asked U.S. President Joe Biden to endorse a new candidate for the post of U.S. Ambassador to our country.

David Kostelancik was appointed as the United States ambassador to Tirana by President Biden on January 24, 2023, but the Senate has not approved this candidacy.

David Kostelancik served in Albania even before in the period 1992-1994, as the first representative for political and economic affairs at the new-open U.S. Embassy in Tirana. Prior to his appointment as ambassador, he served as a Foreign Policy Adviser to the Chief of Staff, General Mark Milley.

Kostelancik is a diplomat with a 30-year career. He has served twice in the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, the U.S. missions in the OSCE and NATO, as well as in Ankara, Turkey. He speaks Russian, Hungarian, Albanian and Turkish.
