The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, during a meeting with former political prisoners, said that Ervin Salianji and Ilir Meta are two prisoners like during the Stalinist dictatorship.
In his speech, the former prime minister asked the former persecuted to draft a program and the Democratic Party will implement it.
Berisha stated that there can be no social peace without compensating the politically persecuted and the landowners.
"Your problem, without a doubt, is a series of measures that have been taken, but the full dimensions can only now be fully known with documentation, history and everything. So you will prepare a new program, I have full confidence that you will have the most objective assessments in your submissions and the DP will have that part of the governing program.
Once again, there can be no social peace, there can be no just society, without compensating the politically persecuted and the owners. Second, you are a class that suffered and resisted in a dictatorship, but the country has de facto fallen into another dictatorship today, not like the one you experienced and Albania experienced. But today there is a dictatorship, where just like in the first, all the powers are in the hands of one man. Today, there is a dictatorship in which methods are borrowed from the other dictatorship, which we went through.
Today, a young MP, Ervin Salianji, celebrated his birthday the day before yesterday in Fier prison, just because he dared to face the two most dangerous mafia clans in the country, the Rama clan and the Xhafaj clan. Why did he denounce in parliament the trafficking that Gerond Xhafa was doing?
And if he didn't denounce him, he wouldn't represent the Albanian citizens. He did his duty and today he is in prison. The leader of another party is in prison, Ilir Meta. After they dragged him in the middle of the street and beat him as a person under investigation, without charges. Only the Stalinist dictatorship acted like that. It also followed some rules, while this one doesn't follow any rules," Berisha said, among other things.
