OSCE/ODIHR FINAL REPORT on the May 11 elections: Administration employees were

The OSCE/ODIHR has published today the full report on the May 11 elections held in the country.

The OSCE/ODIHR report emphasizes that the Socialist Party had influence in these elections, due to the power it holds.

It is further reported that in these elections, administrative employees were pressured by the SP.

There have also been accusations of pressure and intimidation by the ruling party from voters.

Finally, the OSCE emphasizes that the candidates in the elections did not enjoy equal opportunities.

Excerpt from the report:

The 2025 parliamentary elections were competitive and conducted professionally, but were held in a highly polarized environment, where contestants did not enjoy equal opportunities.

However, candidates were generally able to campaign freely, although some reported facing intimidation.

The election administration managed the process in a comprehensive and transparent manner.

Voting abroad, carried out for the first time in these elections, was well managed, despite the political agreement and late approval of this measure, as well as some organizational problems.

The ruling party benefited from the extensive use of administrative resources during the campaign, creating an unfair advantage for candidates who were already in office.

There were also many accusations of pressure on voters, especially against public administration employees.

Furthermore, the electoral legislation and its narrow interpretation by the electoral administration did not prevent abusive practices.

The concentration of media ownership, which undermines the plurality of news sources, together with self-censorship among journalists and the dominance of media coverage by the two largest parties, limited the ability of voters to make an informed choice.
