Binaj gathers opposition forces, Alimehmeti: He is the most advantaged

The independent candidate for the Municipality of Tirana, Florjan Binaj, held an important meeting yesterday with representatives of the opposition political forces, signaling a rare unity of the opposition in a single front. The Coordinator of the Democratic Party for Tirana, Ilir Alimehmeti, described this development as an unusual event in the Albanian political scene.

"It's been a long time since we've seen the opposition unite on one side. And we've never seen an independent candidate be so advantaged in these 35 years. Binaj's campaign is more like a civic campaign, where he himself is in the role of the head of the headquarters, but where the political forces that support him also play an important role."

Binaj is the candidate, he leads the campaign and bears its burden. But to give this campaign logistical and organizational strength, especially on the day of voting and counting, a bridge is needed with the parties that support it, and the DP is the largest among them. Alimehmeti said that the support of an independent candidate by the opposition forces is an unusual but necessary move given the political conditions in which the opposition finds itself. This is truly special: an independent candidate who is supported by all opposition parties. It is a new model that seeks to break away from the old and everyday standards of politics.

"We believe that this is the way to bring real change to Tirana. Binaj showed that he managed to bring together all the divided opposition parties," he said on mcn.
