Prime Minister Edi Rama says he described what is happening in Albania as revolutionary, where powerful people are held accountable before the law. However, he added, from a human point of view it is not good when you see people you know long before they come to justice.

"We are fighting against all odds when it comes to equality before the law. It is painful that for the first time in our state's history since 1912, when we declared independence, we see powerful people connected to the political state, government or opposition, being held accountable to independent prosecutors."

I can't hide from you that from a human point of view it's not the best thing to see people you've known for a long time brought to justice to answer for various things. And since they're innocent until proven guilty, these are processes that take their time.

"What is new in Albania, and quite revolutionary, is that we have cleaned up the justice process through a verification process and handed over the sword of punishment from the executive branch to the judiciary. Of course, this is helping a lot. There is no doubt that it is helping," the prime minister said.
