Prime Minister Edi Rama gave a short speech today during the joint conference with the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

Rama thanked the two EU leaders saying that they have paid a lot of attention to the Western Balkans, although in difficult times for Europe affected by the war in Ukraine and now a new conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Rama did not mention the tensions between Kosovo and Serbia as he said that he is speaking briefly, as he does not want to take up the precious time of the two Germans, who have busy agendas.

Part of Rama's speech:

I would never be able to find the right words to thank the chancellor, who was open to bringing the summit to Tirana, and the president of the Commission who really gave this summit something of quality between the EU plan and the Western Balkans.

This summit comes at an extraordinary time between the crises that have hit both in Europe and including the terrible new front between Israel and Hamas. These times have forged our cooperation, the sense of togetherness, and thanks to the leadership of the EU, what has happened has been used to see money with a stronger faith.

These two Germans have schedules, deadlines, set times, so I don't want to take away from their time here. Because it is not every day that we meet the German chancellor and the president of the Commission.
