Prime Minister Edi Rama says the socialist majority supports justice.
In his speech to the PS group, after the hearing with the rector of UBT, Fatbardh Sallaku, Rama stated that he will not remain silent if the independence of the judicial bodies is used to violate human rights.
"Together with you here, for the first time, we have removed the hands of political power from justice. For 5 years in a row we have said, we do not comment on any process, any decision of justice. When I see it a little further than others, that this method that is becoming a system, is wrong, the justification for continuing detention remains untested along the way. Look at how long the detentions of this justice system are.
We will no longer have to remain silent when independence becomes a carte blanche to violate human rights. Another person, Thoma Gëllçi's lawyer, has publicly criticized me.
The Strasbourg Court ruled that the arrest of Thima Gëllçi was invalid. The investigation at the Agricultural University of Tirana was initiated by the National Intelligence Service and the State Police. There are no branches and no leaves near and around me, so that if a fly has entered, I can avoid pruning. On the contrary, another reason why I loved SPAK is to help prune this tree here, with the instruments of justice. The State Police and the Intelligence Service are behind many operations, where others take the glory.
"I have nothing against the investigation, to bring to light those who have touched even 1 euro of the state budget. But these detentions and these notarizations at the GJKKO, I no longer accept these, I no longer accept them," he stressed.
