Prime Minister Edi Rama says that Albania sees the lifting of the Law of War that Greece has against our country as very important.

Rama said this in an interview with the Greek television "MEGA", where he stated that Albania wants to resolve its disputes with Greece, as it hopes to join the European Union by 2030.

He said that the "Beleri" issue was what caused problems in the positive path between the two governments to resolve these disputes.

Excerpt from the interview:

I think we still have the problem of being very old neighbors, but at the same time we are very young neighbors, after a 50-year hiatus. Greece went through a terrible fascist dictatorship, but it went through communism faster than we did. Greece had the blessing of the EU, while we came out of communism much worse than communism in other countries. So putting together the pieces of history and this reborn life in our common yard has not been easy.

In some cases we have been victims of this past, and we have more than once had proof that we are very, very similar, very Balkan, very Mediterranean, and yet we continue to remain hostages of our history.

History can be a great trap, or a great resource for moving forward. Let's look at history with the eyes of the future. Relations are good now. They were bad for a long time, on an issue that was important for Greece, but for us it was one of the issues.

The Beleri case could go to the European Court of Justice...

We are a democratic country, Greece is a democratic country, we respect the European courts.

It is important for us to lift martial law.
