The Democratic Party Parliamentary Group held a meeting regarding the establishment of two Investigative Commissions for the May 11 elections, which was rejected by the Socialist Party.
The head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has stated that "they want to annihilate the Parliament as they did with the May 11 elections."
"Edi Rama's rejection of the opposition's right to establish two Investigative Commissions on the May 11 election farce and the personal affair with "McGonigal" is an unconstitutional act that destroys one of the main functions of the Assembly - that of parliamentary control. Through this act, Edi Rama not only destroys the constitutional rights of the opposition, but parliamentarism itself.
Parliamentary Inquiry Committees are an instrument of transparency, not of political deadlock. We demand the standards that every EU country has, nothing more. European integration is not a ceremony in Brussels, but a cleansing of corruption within the Tirana government. Albania cannot have a European image with African standards.
"Parliament should not be the place of government propaganda, but the place where the opposition controls, demands accountability, and takes responsibility. The opposition will never become a pawn of a gang that, after destroying free and fair elections, wants to destroy Parliament as well ," Bardhi writes.
