The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted on social media following the death of former Prime Minister Fatos Nano.

He expresses condolences to the family, while emphasizing that Nano has the merit for reforming the Socialist Party.

"Fatos Nano closes his eyes forever. Dear friends, Fotos Nano, former prime minister of the country and former chairman of the Socialist Party, a leading figure of the Albanian left during the transition, closed his eyes forever. Fatos Nano has the merit of reforming the Socialist Party, its membership in international leftist forums, as well as his own acceptance of the rotation of power. On this occasion, I express my condolences to his family, friends, relatives and socialists. Amen ," Berisha wrote on Facebook.

Fatos Nano passed away this Friday, October 31, at the age of 73. He had been in intensive care for about a month, in a hospital in the capital.
