The President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, received today the delegation of the European Parliament headed by Michael Gahler, who came to monitor the elections of May 11. The conversation with the delegation focused on the electoral process, its first management in the context of meeting the standards on the path to EU membership. The European parliamentarians showed special interest in the innovations of this process regarding the voting of the diaspora.

This meeting concluded the series of meetings of the President of the Republic with international observers of the May 11 elections.

Meanwhile, before the start of the electoral silence, the President of the Republic considers it important to share his message about the elections with public opinion.

"Dear citizens, Today, I want to address you with a special message:

May 11 is a special day for each of you. On this day you have the opportunity and the right to decide on the future of yourself, your family, and our common Albania.

I invite you to exercise your right to vote on Sunday with calm, responsibility and dignity! Together we can turn this process into an example of citizenship, transparency and democratic maturity, because democracy is not just a day of voting, it is a daily commitment that begins with participation and culminates with responsibility.

Institutions have a clear and non-negotiable obligation: to guarantee free, fair and peaceful elections. Only through a fair and credible electoral process can citizens' trust in the state, in the institution of voting and in the democratic future of our country itself be built.

I deeply believe that the Albanian people deserve the best. You deserve an electoral process that represents your free will, that respects the law, and that serves only the public interest.

The May 11 elections are not only an exercise in democracy, but are an important test of political maturity for citizens and politicians.

Therefore, as your representative, I ask you with all my heart to turn May 11 into a day of celebration and civic engagement in the name of democracy and hope for the future. The vote is your voice. Use it with dignity, because through it you take your destiny and that of the generations to come into your own hands.

"Despite the challenges we may face, I am confident that we can and must remain united, unwavering in our commitment to a fairer, more developed and more democratic Albania," says the Head of State.
