Erion Veliaj reacted to the bug two days before the May 11 elections.

He says he feels proud that Tirana and Albania are moving at a dizzying pace towards Europe. 

"On Sunday, when you go to vote, when you pick up the ballot and see the list of parties and candidates, stop for a moment and remember what Tirana was like and what it is like today. Remember what Albania was like and what it has become. Remember who are those who brought this change and who are those who want to reverse it," says Veliaj.

In the end, he has a call to citizens: Vote for the Socialist Party. Vote for Edi Rama. Vote for Albania that moves forward!

Dear friends, citizens of Tirana and all of Albania,

When I see today that the Giro d'Italia is being organized in Albania, and that it arrives in Tirana this afternoon, I am reminded of that gray Albania and Tirana, without parks, without roads, without vision, without dignity, where you couldn't even ride a bike, let alone organize an event of world proportions like this.

And I feel truly proud – not of myself, but of our Tirana that today is green, buzzing with energy and work, has schools and parks and roads and opportunities for citizens, like a true European city. I feel proud of our Albania that has not only been transformed dramatically, to the point of seeming like a different country than the one we had until yesterday, but is moving at a dizzying pace towards the Europe we have dreamed of for so long.

I would very much like to be in this campaign not as a spectator, but as a part of it. Because I strongly believe, with all my heart, in this path that we have built together. But, even from a distance, I cannot help but make a heartfelt appeal to you:

On Sunday, when you go to vote, when you pick up your ballot and see the list of parties and candidates, stop for a moment and remember what Tirana was like and what it is like today. Remember what Albania was like and what it has become. Remember who are the ones who brought this change and who are the ones who want to reverse it.

A vote for Saliu & Co means undermining everything we have built, the European future of our children.

But fear of that oppressive crowd should not be the reason for making the right choice on May 11. Your vote on May 11 should not be a vote against Saliu or the parties that emerged from the womb of the DP. Your vote should be a vote for work, for hope, for transformation. Your vote should be a vote for the present that makes us proud and the European future that we deserve.
There is only one team on the field that deserves your trust today. Therefore, with all my love and gratitude, I invite you:

Vote for the Socialist Party. Vote for Edi Rama. Vote for Albania that moves forward!
