Sali Berisha has given his idea on the Franco-German plan, a plan that has tensed the political scene in Kosovo and Serbia. During a meeting with the former Foreign Minister of Kosovo, Mrs. Meliza Haradinaj, Berisha said that a good agreement that respects the Constitution is in the interest of Kosovo.
Berisha assesses that the Franco-German plan seems to present a welcome solution for Kosovo, but also for the region: "This plan should provide for the removal from the Constitution of Serbia of the ultra-nationalist Preamble that defines Kosovo as part of Serbia".
But this is not the only vital thing, according to Sali Berisha, who emphasizes that the Association that should not be opposed is the one that complies with the Constitution of Kosovo.
Such a (constitutionalist) is the one that does not recognize executive powers to municipalities with a Serbian majority: "Like an Association that creates structures with executive power is dangerous, not only for Kosovo, but for the entire region in which minorities are present and more numerous than the Serbian minority in Kosovo. It should never be forgotten that the "gunpowder" in the barrel of our region is blind Serbian ultra-nationalism.
They agreed that the Balkans can never afford a second "Srpska Republic" and that in the face of the spiral of Serbian ultra-nationalism, the Albanian factor must be as united as possible.
Berisha said that the Serbian expansion started with the border correction projects and then with the Open Balkans, projects for which Berisha makes Prime Minister Edi Rama responsible for the agreement with Serbian President Alexander Vucic.
