The new "Infectious Diseases" hospital at QSUT was inaugurated today after several months in the reconstruction process.

Prime Minister Edi Rama, present at the inauguration ceremony together with the Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirlu, said that the new building is a form of expression of gratitude for the doctors and nurses, for the hard work they did during the pandemic.

As for the latter, Rama described it as a great success story since the hospital staff had to face "the biggest challenge of Albanian medicine since the establishment of the Albanian state".

" One should not leave an opportunity without expressing respect and gratitude. This building is an expression of gratitude.

What became a great success story during the war with an invisible enemy, should not remain just an episode thanks to the leadership of doctors with more experience, but also be inherited by the younger generation as an inalienable spirit.

This investment would serve to create a stronger sense of team that showed itself in the most tragic moment for the country, in the biggest challenge of Albanian medicine since the founding of the Albanian state... "

Prime Minister Edi Rama has promised that the salary of the medical staff working in the Infectious Hospital will increase again if Albania does not face any other crisis or disaster.

" With God's help that it does not bring us another disaster, I am convinced that we will raise the salary to 100% for all of you who serve in this complex. Investments will continue in other territories from Dibra to Gjirokastër, from Lezha and further to other areas to complete the mosaic of health infrastructure and transform it.

We know this is not enough. We must proceed with hospital autonomy to further increase doctors' salaries according to performance so that those who work the hardest can earn more than the ceiling salary , "said Rama.
