In the Committee on Internal Affairs and Defense, where Minister Albana Koçiu is reporting, the Secretary General of the Democratic Party, Flamur Noka, took the floor, raising serious accusations against the State Police and alleged links with criminal cartels.

"Horrifying. Progress has been made, yes ma'am, because criminal gangs have now institutionalized cartels, and Albania is the only country considered a narco-state in Europe. There is no need for analysis, because it is clear how much the State Police's contribution is in this sector. We have a narco-police.

"We are the only country where the director and deputy director of the State Police are not appointed by law; we are the only country where the directors of the Police are appointed by the cartels. Ilir Proda is a nominee of Suel Cela. Neritan Nallbati, the deputy director of organized crime, is a nominee of the Troplini cartel," said Noka.

The DP secretary added that the issue is about monthly payments that officials receive from cartels to serve them: "If you listen, we are talking about monthly payments that these gentlemen receive from cartels to serve them. I have nothing to do with you, Madam Minister; you have nothing to do with the police, the Prime Minister has limited your work, deal with the civil status, I am talking about the State Police."

Noka also criticized Minister Koçiu for the lack of attention to electoral crimes during the past year, emphasizing that she did not speak about this issue during the reporting.

"The cartels decide the lives of citizens, they determine who will live and who will be killed. Now I would like the minister to be a little concerned about electoral crimes, because we have gone through another election year, but as you heard, the minister did not stutter anything about this," said Noka.
