After a 5-hour meeting, the Democratic Party parliamentary group decided to end the one-day boycott of Parliament.

DP leader Sali Berisha declared that boycott is not an option and that the opposition will return to the Assembly to restore the constitutional functioning of Parliament, also warning of "surprises" in the upcoming sessions.

The democrats' boycott lasted only 24 hours. After five hours of the parliamentary group meeting, the positions softened, returning to the statutory principle that the field cannot be left empty.

"Boycott, once again, is not an option. We have banned it," Berisha said.

But, for the opposition, this does not mean accepting the situation in which the Albanian Parliament functions, warning of surprises upon returning to the Assembly.

"But, I leave no surprises, so the decision is final, every necessary effort will be made to restore Parliament, its functioning on the basis of the Constitution and laws," stressed Berisha.

This group meeting came after the November 9 by-elections, which Berisha considered an extension of the May 11 electoral farce: "Albania has only electoral farce. Now they are being recognized worldwide, they are called electoral autocracy or totalitarian dictatorship."

The decision to take a different stance in the Assembly came after the Socialists, with their votes, rejected the Democrats' demands for investigative committees.
