Italian Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi predicts that next week the opening of the migrant centre in Lezha will begin.
Next week first persons are expected to come to the centre, but the minister declares that there will be no ribbon cutting.
The centres will be in the form of detention centres, but not barbed wire.
"We plan to start next week, realistically the first persons will be taken to the centres in Albania next week. There will be no ribbon cutting." This is what Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said, speaking at il Foglio's party.
"The centres are similar to those located on the national territory, they are for easy detention. There's no barbed wire, there's assistance. It's not CPR. Anyone can apply for international protection and receive it within a few days," the minister added.
Although the first migrants are expected to arrive in a few days, the Gjadri camp will continue with work, as it has remained 30 percent of the volume unimpeded. The center was scheduled to open on September 1, but due to delays in the works has been postponed to this day.
The agreement with Italy on migrants was signed in November last year by Prime Minister Rama Meloni and then ratified by both parliaments.
