The former DP deputy Mitro Çela remembered the late former minister Sokol Olldashi with an essay where he talks about a collision of his in Brussels on the Fier-Vlora road.
Çela writes that Olldashi argued in Brussels with an expert because of the curly pelican, who, according to him, refused to give up the firm for the transfer of funds.

POST OLD DASH FALCON AND CURLY PELICAN IN BRUSSELS
-An essay in memory of my friend Sokol Olldashi-
The Fier - Vlorë road was planned to be built with funding from the European Union.
The road project was done. Calculations were made for the amount of money.
A delegation went to Brussels to sign the release of the funds.
It was chaired by the Minister of Transport, Sokol Olldashi.
When the minister was waiting for the signature to be given, Brussels experts objected.
Between the minister and an expert, a conversation took place with surreal notes.
Minister:- What is the reason that you do not agree to throw away the signature?
Expert:- Curly pelican!
Minister:- What is this nonsense?! We have come to Brussels for the road, you talk to us about wild birds?!
Expert:- Your Deputy Minister of Environment, Taulant Bimo, has written that rare birds grow in the Narta marsh, near which the Fier - Vlorë road will pass.
With EU money, we can't allow the "shooting" of the curly pelican?!
It would be an inhumane act! The Europe of the ideals of Mitterrand, Cole, Margaret Thatcher and Tony Blair will not allow, nor will it ever allow, the abuse of the right to live, a right given by God, for the innocent curly pelican?!
Out of anger, the minister called Prime Minister Berisha.
One day
-One day the Deputy Minister of Environment Taulant Bimo told me:
- Midnight. I was lying on the bed. The phone rings... It was the Prime Minister!...
Without much delicacy, he invited me to the office.
The Prime Minister got straight to the point:
– Did you write any letter, posting it to Brussels about the curly pelican?
At first I said no.
Then I remembered…
My heart skipped a beat...
A few years ago I published a book about rare birds that breed in Albania.
Among them is the curly pelican.
"The book, it seems, will have fallen into the hands of some EU expert, - I told the Prime Minister."
- A compromise must be found, - Berisha said laughing. - Please, write a letter to Brussels...
- That same night, says Taulan Bimo, I "wrote" a diplomatic letter. I came up with the idea:
The Fier-Vlora road, to be built, if corrections are made to the project for the protection of the curly pelican.
Whoever does not believe my story, let him take the road to Vlora.
On the highway, like a ghost in the middle of the field, several ambushes with nets have been built.
About a kilometer long?!
Money to protect the pelican and curly.
