Democratic Party MP candidates, former MPs, and elected members within the structures gathered for about three hours to discuss the future of the largest opposition party.

The meeting was hermetic and almost no information emerged from what was discussed. This has also sparked rumors that an internal movement may have already begun within the DP.

Ilir Alimehmeti, the doctor and the most voted DP candidate in Tirana, also spoke about this meeting.

"We were among Democrats in a conversation and in each district it was the person who received the most votes from the respective district. The people have spoken, democracy is about going to talk to the people and first of all talking to them. A strong reaction was needed because the government is caught up in scandals, and how can we make the protest stronger, more sustainable," Alimehmeti said on the Top News show.

"Do you believe that with all these scandals, with a strong opposition the government would immediately fall?" asked moderator Grida Duma.

"Absolutely yes. This is also an official position, the DP must strengthen itself and understand where there are mistakes. To avoid models that have not worked. The Democrats themselves tell us, you have left us, they have not been contacted. Democracy needs this. We are their voice", said Alimehmeti.
