The Central Election Commission has not allowed our ambassador to the United States of America, Ervin Bushati, to participate in President Trump's inauguration ceremony on Monday.
It is learned that the Foreign Ministry has reported the ambassador's activity to the Central Election Commission, in accordance with the obligation that institutions have to postpone any activity during the pre-election period from January 11 to May 11.
But the CEC has stopped the activity because the online system set up before the elections has "raised a red flag" for the Albanian ambassador.
According to the obligation of state institutions, reporting must be done 5 days before the activity and not 3 days as happened in the ambassador's case.
But then Commissioner Celibashi allowed the Ambassador's participation.
"The public event reporting interface automatically bans an event that is reported less than 5 days before its scheduled date."
This is what happened when reporting on some activities of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
"By decision of the Commissioner, considering the excusing circumstance of not respecting the 5-day deadline, the activity was permitted," the CEC announcement states.
