In an interview on DritareTV, Tërmet Peçi spoke for the first time after the news broke about the sexual abuse allegations that emerged just hours before the May 11 elections.

He considered the news "slanderous" and indicated that its publication at that moment was intentional:

"A few hours before the ballot box, they released a very slanderous piece of news. This upset me. They could have released it earlier, but they waited then. But this news had no impact at all, because where I live, they know me very well."

Peçi also recalled similar events that occurred about 10 years ago, when portals published news about his then-teenage children:

"A few years ago, portals were harassing my children, who were teenagers. I found the number of the portal's director, called him on the phone and he said: 'You know how it is, mayor, your news sells.' Why are you going to make money with me? The state itself should step in here. If you have something, come out and I will respond. But don't smear me just for clicks."

He stressed that using such news for political gain is not the right way to go:

"This is not the right way, to smear and do politics. If you are going to do politics, face the people."/Dritare
