The Assembly will hold two plenary sessions today. The first will start at 10:00, where the draft decision on the election of the deputy speakers of the Assembly, the secretariats and the composition of the Bureau of the Assembly is expected to be discussed.
In the second session, which will start at 5:00 PM, the election of the chairmen of the Permanent Committees of the Assembly will be discussed.
A day ago, the Speaker of the Assembly, Niko Peleshi, gathered the heads of the parliamentary party groups in a consultative meeting on the new structure and direction of the committees.
The majority will have 7 committees in charge, while the opposition will have 4. But the DP opposed this new structure, announced by Prime Minister Edi Rama during the SP Assembly last week, accusing that there were no consultations and that the majority has taken away from the opposition the Integration Committee, which has historically been led by the opposition.
Gazment Bardhi also forwarded these complaints to foreign embassies in Tirana. The Chairman of the DP Parliamentary Group requested the intervention of foreign representations to prevent, according to him, the unilateral approval of the changes proposed by the majority.
Yesterday, President Bajram Begaj decreed the 16 new ministers of the "Rama 4" government cabinet. The decrees now go to the Assembly, where the government is expected to receive a vote of confidence in a session that, according to sources, could last two days, Thursday and Friday. After approval, the new cabinet will have to swear in the Constitution at the Presidency.
