Mismanagement and failure of technology, why Ilirjan Celibashi should resign!

When it comes to the whims of the Central Election Commission and commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi for the financing of electronics in the elections, the government has shown itself to be complacent.

Suffice it to mention the fact that these are the most expensive elections in the history of Albanian pluralism with almost 35 million euro cost for taxpayers and citizens.

The whole purpose of the technology introduced in the 2021 elections is to remove any alibi for political parties to manipulate the result, for voting by people who do not live in Albania, or even for voting by people who no longer live.

But what happened this Sunday?

Instead of preventing manipulation, technology and the Central Election Commission itself became the biggest obstacle to the will of the citizens. For three hours, no one voted in at least 10 percent of the polling stations.

The figure was confirmed by the commissioner Ilirjan Celibashi himself, after issuing the order for manual identification in these centers. Celibashi said that electronic identification started at 77 percent of polling stations at 7 a.m., implying that this figure was a success.

But can we talk about success when spending 35 million euros, when in 23 percent of the identification centers it started late and out of these in 10 percent it didn't start at all? Can it be called a success when only one electronic vote cost 100 euros and electronic identification nearly 20 euros per vote, the entire amount spent for these elections is divided by the number of voters of 1.65 million.

Celibashi tried to find an alibi for this failure himself, transferring the failure to the operators of the identification devices. Does the alibi stand?

The fact that the CEC receives millions of lek from the Government for the provision of human resources and their training brings it down. Also, the failure of the technology is the direct responsibility of Ilirjan Celibashi, who had to ensure their operation through tests.
