Journalist Klodiana Lala has commented on recent developments in the special anti-corruption structure and the investigations being carried out against the head of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta and his wife, Monika Kryemadhi.

Invited to "Breaking" with journalist Fiori Dardha on Top News, Lala explained that SPAK prosecutors do not record the name of the person under investigation but the case they are investigating, because this way they gain more time available for investigation.

"SPAK registers the criminal offense, not the name of the person under investigation. By doing this, there is a term of several years because the criminal offense has not been individualized. Until now, the role of Ilir Meta has been under investigation. They use this opportunity given to them by the law because the moment they register a politician's name, they have a limited period of investigation, a maximum of 1 year," said Lala.

Among other things, she revealed that for the investigation of Meta and Kryemadhi, there is a voluminous file and several letters have been sent to different countries, some of which have returned answers.

" Information was requested by registered letter in Vienna, Prague, Great Britain. Some of the letter orders have arrived. Information on lobbying contracts in the USA has been requested, dozens of witnesses have been questioned, Meta e Kryemadhi himself has been questioned. This voluminous issue requires its own time," she added.

The journalist emphasized that Meta is not only being investigated for the "CEZ-DIA" affair, but also for his wealth and that of his family members to prove whether it was built through legal sources.

" Meta-Kryemadhi has not remained only with CEZ-DIA, but all the joint assets of the couple are being investigated. Here we talk about all the assets that they or their relatives have. Investigations are underway to find out whether this wealth is justified or not through legitimate sources. Undoubtedly, Meta and Kryemadhi will defend themselves in their own ways because they are politicians" - concluded the journalist.
