Edi Rama: We in the SP will make this progress irreversible but still sufficient for tomorrow. When I brought you the picture of 2013, I did not want to say that we have defeated corruption. We are in the middle of a real war with corruption. Exactly why we have really not kept our skin away from its fire. We have opened the way for the prosecution and SPAK, but we have also conscientiously, courageously and willingly deprived ourselves of any possibility of political control of the blows of that fire mouth.
Today, justice is independent from political power. We have put a constitution at the disposal of justice, but also a salary budget that, like nowhere else, is above the hierarchy of Albanian institutions. They are higher than the President of the Republic, they are the highest paid individuals, it is an absolute anomaly, but we have created it consciously, for the strengthening of anti-corruption efforts.
The truth is that corruption in Albania today has not been defeated as a disturbing phenomenon, nor has our force gained immunity to corruption. Even though we have cleaned up quite a bit, there is a lot to clean up even within our party, there is still a lot of work to do to immunize it from the influence of corruption. No exception is the executive, municipalities and enterprises, including parties, business media are still easily accessible by the offer of corruption.
The field of this war resembles the field of a real war today. The enemy still has the strength to wound and kill. If until yesterday the wind was in favor of the enemy, today it has turned in favor of the state. It is a war with an enemy that challenges the country head-on in 30 years.
We have reversed the conditions to get the trend back on track.
Who remembers the fight against corruption as a challenge, who scares the other more, knows neither the history of statehood nor the nature of corruption.
