Deputy of the Democratic Party Ervin Salianji has spoken about the initiatives for the unification of the Democratic Party.

As for the proposal that his name be the one to replace Enkelejd Alibeaj as the chairman of the DP parliamentary group, he said on the show "Kjo Javë" that he is ready to do everything to help the party's unification, even if it means taking responsibility , either by leaving the mandate of the deputy if deemed necessary.

Salianji has added that he sees the start of the merger of DP before the election campaign, but that if the work to occupy certain positions continues, he clarified that the necessary measures will be taken.

He said he met Basha for the last time in an activity, but he did not talk about this initiative. He added, among other things, that when this initiative became known, the meeting with Basha was no longer possible.

Initiative to put you at the top of the group, what can you tell us?

Salianji : It was an initiative for unification, so all the time I did not maintain a position that we cannot sleep only for people when we have to find every way for unification. There have been proposals from colleagues, which could be one of the possibilities for union, but only my name has not been discussed. I will not speak until a merger solution is reached. I am also available to leave the mandate and take responsibility if the need arises.
We are no longer in the conditions when it comes to numbers, but we will give time to our colleagues to reflect on what is the way to unite.

Would the union be achieved if you were in charge?

Salianji : That's why I say I don't speak because it doesn't depend on me. I see a merge attempt. This time we have a larger group of people supporting the Primary candidates on the ground, the consensus will be broad. No unilateral acts will be taken to show who has the majority. There is time. It will start before the campaign. If there will be no consensus and the attempt to usurp certain positions will continue, no doubt there will be measures. Berisha is making a concession to reach consensus, there are attempts to unite the DP and unite it with the opposition.

Is Basha behind Alibeaj's decisions?

Salianji : From the first day when he was forced to leave, when he gave a forced resignation, Basha did not have a resignation, he did not even take the letter to resign as party leader to the court.

It will be confirmed very soon that they are in a project to open a new party, which does not serve PD. Whoever has political ambitions, including Basha who took a large DP and left a small DP, should open his own party.

I had a strong support for Basha, but I cannot be myopic and see that there is another reality. Everyone must reposition themselves, but the party and the opposition cannot be held hostage for ambition. He was given many opportunities.

Do you have communication with Basha?

Salianji : We, who have taken the initiative for unification, were going to meet Basha as a member of the parliamentary group, but we could not because as word got out, the decision was made to exclude four deputies from the group.
