The leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, has made public the request he has submitted to the Special Court (GJKKO), requesting that a letter of formal notice be sent directly to the US Department of Justice regarding the issue of LSI lobbying in the US.
In his response, Meta emphasizes that the request aims to secure all documentation, banking data and materials related to the lobbying contract between LSI and the American company GSIS, signed in 2016, which according to him would serve to prove his "innocence".
He asks the court to turn to the US authorities for the original contract, any amendments to it, invoices, payments, acts of representation, as well as any financial documents related to the implementation of the agreement, including bank details and any possible subcontracts.
In his request, Meta also raises questions about the manner of execution of the contract and the role of various parties in the payments, including citizen Adrian Shatku, for whom he requests additional documentation on each alleged transaction.
The leader of the PL emphasizes that the letter of request must be handled urgently, as according to him it is directly related to personal freedom and the right to defense in the judicial process, where he has been in detention for more than 20 months.
The issue of LSI lobbying in the US is one of the files being reviewed by the Special Court, while Meta continues to oppose the accusations, calling them unfounded.
