"Forget that Beleri swears", Rama harshly answers Greece: We do not
Rama-Beleri

Prime Minister Edi Rama has categorically rejected the chances of the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, to take the oath of office.

In the show "Debate" on A2CNN, Rama said that this issue will not be negotiated even with the European Council, where Greece has raised its voice on the Beleri issue, even if Athens continues to put pressure on blocking Albania's integration into the EU.

"How is the oath taken is the question? To date, you have a Supreme Court decision from a few years ago, which tasked the Special Court to deal with this issue. Because the request to take the oath was made to us. We have no opportunity to decide whether or not to take an oath. We have made it very clear. That if the entire European Council is turned upside down, we do not negotiate anything against the greatest strategic interest of Albania, today, which is the implementation of the Reform in Justice and the non-encroachment of the independence of the justice institutions. They have been looking for this for some time, we can't do it, forget that we are involved in this. No integration block. That it is not a blockage of integration at all, it is a political process."

The head of the government made it clear in his position that in Albania the powers are separated and Beler's fate will be decided by justice.

Referring to the special request to be released to take the oath, which Beleri addressed to the Directorate of Prisons, Rama said that the Supreme Court rejected it, underlining in the decision that these powers do not belong to the Director General of Prisons .

"Because they have been asking us for a certain time. This is what Albania was looking for. Albania has legislative, executive and judicial power. After we have repeated that the Director of Prisons cannot do something like that. That it is not in the law. The law says very clearly when the oath is taken. After wasting time and going to the Court of Durrës, the Supreme Court took it to the Special Court and the decision states that the director of prisons has no power to resolve this issue, to grant permission. Neither permission to go before the city council, nor the city council to go to prison, nor the master to take a notary to prison. I am with Albania. To be with Albania today is to be with the independence of the justice system. The justice institutions are not great, I agree, but this is the only way if we really want this country to become a state. It is the first time since 1912 that this country has a justice structure consisting of the SPAK and the Special Court where the executive power does not put its hands in and does not interfere."

"I really wish you knew what you do", Rama reveals what he said to the police director when Beleri was arrested

Prime Minister Rama said that the arrest of Fredi Beleri was only announced when the police started to intervene.

He said that he told the police director that this is a very serious matter and they should be careful.

"Greece has its right to speculate by taking these facts and attaching them to an unrelated issue. This is one way of interpretation. First, I have not taken the whole campaign with the master. I may have many flaws, but I'm not stupid. If I had known that I was investigating him, there would not have been a political attack on him.

The investigation was initiated by the Vlora prosecutor's office and it is not true that every case should be investigated from the beginning by SPAK. The prosecution has started an investigation and the prosecution does not depend on us. The police were informed to intervene only a few hours before the intervention. I have been informed that the police have started to intervene and I have told the director of the police, I really wish you knew what to do because if this does not last, then it is very serious".

Asked if the judiciary is acting with two standards in the fight against electoral crimes, mentioning the case of Beler and the mayor of Rrogozhina, Rama said that this is not the case as members of the majority have also ended up in prison and this is where he brought the case. of Safet Gjici.

"Secondly, it's like comparing a watermelon to a pumpkin. Vote buying and being caught red-handed is one thing and investigating a phone call related to a household's electricity connection is another. That of Rrogozhina is also being investigated. In the cell today, in custody, there is a mayor elected in those elections that are held there for oral sex. We are in conditions where we cannot make comparisons at all. SP commissioners were convicted for buying votes, those who were caught and tried were convicted and are being punished. The bottom line in this story is that Greece has no rights. We have a justice for all and not divided, it is not a matter of the minority", said Rama.
