The French presidency of the European Union has not given up on efforts to set a date for negotiations for Albania and North Macedonia, although Bulgaria has also not given up its veto on Skopje.

"Many member states have recalled that the framework of negotiations is not the place to solve all bilateral problems. This must be done through a target. It is precisely this target that we are working on, taking into account the criteria of balance and equality. We have a balance problem right now. The general interest is to open negotiations and we are working respecting both sides. This is also the will of the Bulgarian government for the first time in a long time, but we are before an episode of domestic policy that is not for me to comment on", said the French minister, Clément Baune.

According to this Baune statement, Bulgaria has agreed with the French proposal to veto the negotiations, but due to recent developments in the new government, which fell, the proposal was not passed.

Meanwhile, Rama has warned he could boycott the summit with EU leaders held on 23-24 June. According to Rama, the presence at that summit makes no sense as long as there will not be a positive decision-making for the negotiations.
