The Bindja Demokratike party has decided to compete alone in the elections of May 14, 2023, while there are also changes in the leadership structures. From yesterday, at the head of this party founded by Astrit Patozi, will be Fabian Topollajn until the end of the race. The decision to go alone, according to them, came as a result of the war within the Democratic Party, which affected the impossibility of creating a common opposition front.

"Bindja Demokratike started intensive preparations for the May 14 local elections yesterday, with the main objective being representation in all 61 municipalities of the country.

Its Board of Directors, which met in Elbasan, decided that, in the conditions of an unprincipled conflict within the main opposition forces, which has made it impossible to create a common front against the government, the Democratic Persuasion will compete alone in these elections.

The need of the Albanian society for a new oppositional alternative as the political identity of the Democratic Persuasion was defined as the campaign motive of every candidate, in every municipality of Albania. The meeting also decided to command Fabian Topollajn as the party's coordinator, until the end of the local elections", the official announcement states.

The new party 'Bindja Demokratike' was founded in 2019 to participate in the June 30 local elections by former DP deputy Astrit Patozi, one of the fiercest critics of former DP chairman Lulzim Basha. The local elections of 2023 have been decreed by President Bajram Begaj on May 14, and with a little time left, the opposition continues to be divided and has no plan on how they will enter the race.
