Evi Kokalari: If the elections are not manipulated within the DP, he will defeat

Evi Kokalari, who is seeking to run for the position of chairwoman of the Democratic Party, stated today for the first time that before the 2025 parliamentary elections, she proposed to Sali Berisha that the latter step down and that she be the candidate for prime minister, as an untested figure with stable and deep connections in the US political elite.

In an online link from the US, Kokari said that Berisha failed to manipulate Albanians with the presence of Chris LaCivita, as voters realized that the latter was simply a contracted consultant paid millions of dollars, and not a connection to the leading Democrat in the Trump administration.

"I believe that Berisha wanted to try and once again enter the 2025 elections himself. I contacted him in 2024 after Donald Trump won the elections and I told him to get out of the game and let me enter because there were many hopes that I would take the elections from Edi Rama because the ultimate goal and the main goal should be to take over from the Socialists and Edi Rama.

He didn't want to do it, he wanted to try it and then he got Chris LaCivita. Even having Chris LaCivita present and Chris LaCivita coming out saying he had connections and was the architect of Trump's campaign and it still didn't work. Not only did it not work, the pro-DP lost 35% of the votes they had in 2021, which means that the Albanian people are not stupid and don't buy this stuff. They understand who is a consultant and paid. They saw the whole game," Kokalari told Report TV.

"My proposal was that he himself would leave the game and I would enter his position. Because I would play a different game and compared to Edi Rama, I would have received a completely different support from America without having to spend a penny and he did not do that. He needs to understand that there is no more support here. And with Chris LaCivita, I brought more support in 2021 and I did it without money. When I found out that it was a game, I said I would wait until the elections were over.

I knew he would lose, after the elections I knew that the moment would come for these people to have new elections in the Democratic Party and really, the moment is here. It's not about him coming out and we need a new leader of the Democratic Party. If we are going to replace Berisha, we need a leader, we need an individual who will not only reform the DP, which no one is talking about how it will be reformed, but whose main goal is to take power from Edi Rama. If it weren't for Berisha, Edi Rama wouldn't have taken it," the activist added.

Kokalari guarantees that if she manages to become the leader of the Democratic Party, the latter will finally emerge from the international isolation it is experiencing because of Berisha. She also emphasizes that her election as head of the DP gives her the necessary authority to denounce the issue of corruption in Albania in the US Congress.

"I am sure that I know how to present the issue in Washington. If I were the leader of the DP, I would go to Congress and speak differently. Since I do not have a position in the Presidency, I should have accepted the vice-chairmanship then," said Kokalari.

"No one can do a better job of exposing corruption in Albania than me in Washington, DC," she added.

Kokalari declares with conviction that "I can absolutely defeat Sali Berisha, if he does not manipulate the votes."
