Gazment Bardhi/Edi Rama

The Chairman of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi , has published a video with two statements by Prime Minister Edi Rama, highlighting his withdrawal from the promise of the country's membership in the European Union.

In the published video, Bardhi recalls a statement by Rama in March 2025, shortly before the elections, where he promised that Albanians would benefit from full rights as EU members, including the right to vote and be represented in the European Parliament.

"With the EU passport, every Albanian and Albanian will gain the right to vote, including for the European Parliament. Meanwhile, Albania will also be part of the European elections,"  is Rama's statement in March 2025.

Meanwhile, in a position expressed a few days ago, Edi Rama takes the opposite line, withdrawing from this promise.

"Why do we absolutely have to have our deputies in the European Parliament from the very beginning? Or is it that the European Parliament lacks carpenters, which we must quickly bring to it?!" - Rama said a few days ago at a press conference, explaining his joint position with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić on now giving up full rights as a member state.

Gazment Bardhi says that this radical change of position in such a short time shows how much Rama has deceived Albanians before the elections and how unreliable he is as a prime minister. The head of the parliamentary group even ironically mocks Rama by using his expression for "noc rrokun", to emphasize that, according to him, with Rama at the head of the government, no positive results for European integration can be expected.

" From the "Noc Rroku" series, the (anti)European variant! When a prime minister like Edi Rama uses power to steal from his own citizens, he cannot keep any promise. Not even the biggest one of his political life: Albania as a member of the EU by 2030.

Before the elections, he promised a European passport, political rights, and a vote in the European Parliament, while today he is showing Albanians "the rock and roll." Because his priority is not the fight against corruption, but protecting them with his vote.

"It is not the independence of justice, but the control of the system. It is not the well-being of Albanians, but the retention of power at all costs. Listen to Edi Rama against Edi Rama. Only one year difference ," Bardhi writes alongside the video.

The video is part of a series of publications, where the head of the DP parliamentary group aims to highlight what he considers to be the prime minister's failures in the process of Albania's membership in the European Union.
