Lawyer Plarent Ndreca raised strong questions about the continuation of Erion Veliaj's arrest, emphasizing that there is no longer any risk of evidence being destroyed.

In front of Fiori Dardha on the Breaking show on Top News, he stated that his detention is unjustified, as the case has passed into the trial phase.

"The risk of tampering with evidence is close to zero... because for now the investigation has been closed and we are now in the trial."

Ndreca emphasized that evidence has already been collected:

"The evidence has been collected and the prosecution is ready to prove the charge in court."

Despite this, he emphasized that the arrest measure continues:

"Keeping Mr. Veliaj in custody in a stubborn manner... seems to be a tactic to deny him a voice and to deprive him of the right to communicate with the public and to prevent him from exercising his mandated duty"

He also added that this situation becomes even more problematic given that Veliaj is in office:

"Holding him for an extended period when we are in the trial of the merits... is one of the most important elements of this case."
