The maritime issue with Greece will now go to the international court. In the studio of "Log." with Endri Xhafon, Xenophon Krisafi, dean of the Faculty of Law says that Greece started to be interested in sharing the sea with Albania, after the end of Tirana's agreement with Italy. He says the Greeks showed interest when they learned that there were rich hydrocarbon resources in the sea between the two countries.

Chrysafi was part of the delegation for the division of the sea with Italy, which started during the dictatorship and ended in 1992, while he remembers with impressions the talks that lasted several years.

"The issue of the sea is one of the problems that Albania has with Greece. It is a problem that seems to interest Greece because it seems to have pushed it. In the beginning, the Albanians pushed him. When the talks with the Italians ended and it turned out that there were hydrocarbon resources on the coast with Albania and Greece, the Greek side showed interest.

Talks with the Italians that lasted several years and I have here a document that is the minutes in February of '92. This is also the agreement we have prepared with the Italians. We faced negotiations with people who were experts. Lasted 8-9 years. The problem was much simpler than with Greece. "The atmosphere was very interesting," said the professor.

Krisafi further recounts how he did not join the delegation for talks with the Greeks in 2009. He recalls meeting with Lulzim Basha, then Foreign Minister.

"Ledia Hysi who had replaced me told me one day, professor, you will become part of that we will start talks with the Greeks about the sea. Yes I told him, I talked to Italians. One day I met Mr. Basha who at that time was Foreign Minister at the Rogner Hotel. I told him that so-and-so called me. O said we finished that deal. How did you not finish? "I know how much we have talked to the Italians for 12 years", he says, while further showing the reasons why he was not involved in the talks with Athens.

"I was not called because I was one of those people who had a great experience. None of my colleagues who participated had this chance. I found that sometimes coincidence affects these. "I was not called when it became Crete or Korça", he confesses.

Krisafi also reveals how he happened to be in a restaurant with Edi Rama, then leader of the opposition, to whom he had explained that the agreement reached with Greece by the Berisha government was not going well. This then led to the agreement going to the Constitutional Court, which overturned it.

"Fidel Ylli makes me an invitation. Do you come to eat a lunch said at the Twin Towers. A little further on at a table was Rama, chairman of the opposition SP, and several others. While talking, I told him that you have heard that Fidel is talking about the agreement with the sea with Greece, he told me if you do not deal with these folklore. And I show it to Professor Pasha.

I had asked to meet Mr. Berisha, Topin, but it was impossible. I wanted to tell you that something is wrong here. Coincidence brought that Rama was there. Fidel told me to go and tell him that he is here. I'm telling him. He also welcomed me with the same formula and you said professor with the same folklore. And I showed him that sketch. Spartak Ngjela who is a lawyer understood. Mr. Rama was also convinced. He agreed to stop the case. "The only possibility was for the case to be transferred to the Constitutional Court," Krisafi said.
