The rapporteur for Albania in the European Parliament, Isabel Santos, expressed regret on Wednesday, regarding Greece's reaction to the "Beleri" case.

According to her, conclusions and statements should be made after justice speaks.

In a press conference, Santos stated that she felt sorry for the content of the statements made by Greece since, according to her, "as far as I know, the judicial authorities are doing their job and it is a matter related to the elections".

"Since the case has not been closed by the judicial bodies, we have to wait for the court's decision, as it is in the judicial process. If all countries sanctioned or made such statements when one of their citizens faces a judicial process, the world would be terrible," said Santos.

The reporter emphasized that she will come to conclusions after the justice speaks.

"I am following the case, I am very attentive to it. I am following the information, but what I can say is that I am waiting for the decision," Santos underlined.

Fredi Beleri was a candidate of the "Together We Win" coalition for the 2023 local elections in Himare. He was arrested on May 12, 2 days before the elections, on the charge of "electoral corruption". Beleri was found guilty by the court and is awaiting the final decision.
