Even for the arrest of Jorgo Goros, as for many officials and leaders of the Socialist Party who have ended up in handcuffs, the majority has the same answer: We do not comment on the decisions of justice.
"Our position is clear, we do not comment on justice decisions. Justice has all our support to continue and take to another level the fight against corruption and any other form of violation of the law ," said the Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla.
Balla says that Goro's resignation will be followed by legal steps that are within the competence of the Executive and the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Himara.
"Within 48 hours, the Prefect's institution notifies the other bodies of the central government and you can be sure that, as in any case, the government of Albania will implement the law point by point. The Municipal Council assigns to that task a mayor to temporarily perform this task."
Currently, the Municipality of Himara has two deputy mayors appointed by Jorgo Goro, Blerina Bala and Pervin Gjikuria.
The meeting of the Municipal Council is scheduled to take place on Friday, March 29, when it is expected to vote between the two vice-presidents to choose the name of the one who will lead the municipality until the court pronounces a final decision on the fate of Fredi Beleri, convicted with 2 years of imprisonment in the First Degree.
If the decision is confirmed on appeal, Himara will have to go to early elections.
