Berisha vs. Elez, the elections for the new chairman of the Democratic Party
Ibsen Elezi and Sali Berisha

The Re-establishment Commission is holding today the elections for the new chairman of the Democratic Party. In the race are Sali Berisha and Ibsen Elezi, the only two candidates for chairman of the Democratic Party.

The voting process started at 08:00 and will close at 18:00. The elections are taking place in 108 polling stations, while the first on the ballot is the former Prime Minister Sali Berisha and the second is his rival Ibsen Elezi.

If at 18.00 there will be members of the Democratic Party who have not yet voted, the Voting Centers will not be closed until the last person has voted.

Members of the DP National Council will vote at one of the two polling stations at the Democratic Party Headquarters, or at the branches where they are delegated after notifying the Commission.

These elections held by the Re-establishment Commission come at a time when the issue of the leadership of the Democratic Party is still without a final decision by the Court, which a few weeks ago accepted the appeal of Enkelejd Alibeaj, against the decision of Judge Agron Zhukri , which registered the Statutory changes of the DP made in the Assembly of December 11 held by the Re-establishment Commission.

Without waiting for the decision of the Court, the Re-establishment Commission set the date of the new elections, although from the other side, which is considered as Alibeaj, these elections are one-sided and did not include all Democrats.
