The deputy of the Democratic Party, Gazment Bardhi, has spoken about the recent movements of the "Alibeaj" group, which submitted the list of members of the ZEAZ, within the framework of the local elections.

Invited to News24, Bardhi said that they turned to the CEC, as it is a legal obligation, adding that the fragmentation of the opposition's alternative harms it. Among other things, Bardhi expressed his openness to cooperation with Berisha's group, in order to reach an agreement to come up with joint candidates for the May 14 elections.

"First of all, this step is legally binding, according to the law. PD would lose the opportunity to have representatives in the elections. there is a discussion on the legitimacy of the bodies within the PD. This is the issue that the law has resolved. Only DP has the right to direct you to the CEC. Due to this conflict, personally and the entire parliamentary group, of which I am a member, we have made efforts to have a cooperation, which, through no fault of ours, has not been realized. We will not leave the DP without having representatives of the ZEAZs.

These commissioners would be taken over by PS. This would be unacceptable to us. In fulfillment of the deadline, and the legal obligation we have, we have officially addressed the commission. There is no selection mechanism, the CEC approves the candidacies proposed by the legitimate legal representatives of the DP. I think that there is no debate, as the matter is settled by law. I am aware that according to the law I cannot make those proposals.

You are not registered with the CEC by statute, but with representatives and the legal legitimacy of those bodies. Berisha has conducted his own process and has not filed any act to be recognized as such in court. He did not even follow the legal procedure. That court decision alone has no effect, not even with the party bodies. I had and continue to have my own position regarding local elections. That is why I am involved in a negotiation process. The fragmentation of the DP damages the opposition, so I think that we are still to find a solution for the opposition to be represented by a single candidate in the local elections. I wish and hope that all together that if we continue to tear apart our opposition alternative, the regime of Edi Rama will win. I will keep trying. if there is a will, and if the interest of the democrats is put first, not only for the PD as a party, but also for the sympathizers, a solution must be found so that the opposition comes out united in the election. DP will have to and will participate in the elections. This is a principle that I will never give up. we have made such a mistake, and the consequences have been long-lasting.

Copëzimi i PD nuk e mundëson këtë objektiv. Ndaj caktojmë vijën e kuqe, që është mospjesëmarrja në zgjedhje. Nëse ne fillojmë e kacafytemi këtu dhe përballë kemi një betejë elektorale përballë Ramës, s’ka kuptim. Ndaj s’jemi bërë pjesë e debatit në Kuvend të Berishës. Ai vendim është marrë, çfarë mbledhje kryesie të bësh? E kemi marrë vendimin për përjashtimin e 4 kolegëve demokratë. Do ishte dëm i madh nëse nuk jemi me një kandidat të përbashkët. Copëzimi i alternativës opozitare në zgjedhje, nuk favorizon përpjekjet opozitare. Çështja “McGonigal” është e rëndë, që do të bënte bashkë jo vetëm demokratët, por edhe të gjithë qytetarët shqiptarë. Është një skandal i rëndë, i vërtetuar nga drejtësia amerikane. Nuk jemi në kuadrin e thashethemeve, por kemi një vendim e zeza mbi të bardhë.”,said White.
